In West Garfield Park, a former industrial warehouse now serves as a vibrant center for creative exchange, capacity building and community connection. The Chicago Tool Library, founded on the idea that anyone can be an artist, builder or repairer, offers its members access to an extensive range of resources, from camping gear and power tools to kitchen equipment and gardening materials. The “library” empowers Chicagoans to undertake home repairs, craft art installations, launch businesses, host events and more—contributing a needed resource center to the neighborhood.
