By building a new headquarters in Brighton Park, The Chicago Park District not only relocated from downtown into a community in which it works, but it also brought a new park space and 18,000-square-foot, best-in-class fieldhouse to one of the neighborhoods in Chicago with the least green space. John Ronan Architects’ innovative two-story structure, situated on a former brownfield site, features a circular layout and a design reminiscent of Frederick Law Olmsted's park system that creates two spacious open-air courtyards within, inviting light and air while offering serene outdoor spaces for meetings, recreation and relaxation. Constructed with locally sourced materials such as salmon-colored Chicago common brick, bronze-tinted glass and reclaimed ash wood, the building harmonizes with its surroundings, embodying the essence of Chicago's architectural heritage while prioritizing durability, longevity and inclusivity.
